The company supplies electric service to approximately 3.9 million customers; and provides domestic regulated transmission and distribution services for natural gas to approximately 500,000 customers in southwestern Ohio and northern Kentucky. It has approximately 36,000 megawatts of electric generating capacity in the Midwest and the Carolinas, as well as approximately 4,000 megawatts of electric generation in Latin America. Duke Energy, through its interest in Crescent Resources LLC, develops and manages commercial, residential, and multi-family real estate projects; and manages land holdings in the United States. The company also develops and manages fiber optic systems for wireless, local, and long-distance communications companies, Internet service providers, and other businesses and organizations in the Carolinas.
