In addition, this segment provides energy supply and marketing services to refiners, producers, and other customers; customer services, such as transportation, storage, supply management, hedging programs, and product exchanges; and natural gas supply, transportation, balancing, and storage to third parties. The company?s Sponsored Investments segment, through its 33.7% interest in Enbridge Energy Partners, L.P, transports crude oil and other liquid hydrocarbons through common carrier and feeder pipelines; and transports, gathers, processes, and markets natural gas and NGL. This segment is also involved in renewable power generation, natural gas transmission, and crude oil and liquids pipelines transportation. The company was formerly known as IPL Energy Inc. and changed its name to Enbridge Inc. in October 1998. Enbridge Inc. was founded in 1949 and is headquartered in Calgary, Canada.
